The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started offering fertility treatment at one of its super-specialty hospitals, with plans to open two more in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) centres. The BMC aims to provide free treatment to couples who want children, as the cost of IVF treatment can be expensive. The IVF centres at Seven Hills Hospital and KEM Hospital are awaiting permissions to start functioning, while plans are also in place to establish IVF clinics at Nair Hospital and Cooper Hospital. Cama Hospital and Wadia Hospital already offer free or subsidised treatment to childless couples.
